Our ghee is prepared using a traditional cultured process inspired by generations of Punjabi dairy making. Instead of making ghee directly from fresh cream, we first ferment the cream into yogurt, churn it into cultured butter, and then slowly heat it to create rich, aromatic ghee.
This slow and natural process gives our Ghyo a deeper, nuttier flavor and a smooth texture that stands apart from regular ghee. The fermentation process naturally increases beneficial compounds like butyric acid, which supports digestion and gut health.
The recipe comes from my grandmother, who learned it from her grandmother in Punjab. The same traditional wisdom and patience are used today to craft every batch of Panjab Farms Ghyo, now proudly produced in the USA while preserving its authentic roots.
